Carry a pen.
Seriously.
We carry phones that can do almost anything. We can dictate a note, send ourselves a message, record a voice memo, put something on a calendar, or save it somewhere in the cloud.
And yet, I still carry a pen.
If you think of something, write it down.
An idea. A name. Something you want to do. Somewhere you want to go. Something somebody said. Something that makes absolutely no sense yet.
Write it down.
Because thoughts disappear. The phone rings. An email comes in. Somebody talks to you. Five minutes later, the thought is gone.
But once you put it on paper, it exists somewhere other than inside your head. You can look at it tomorrow. Add to it. Cross it out. Come back to it six months later.
Writing something down doesn’t make it happen.
But it does make it a little more real.
So carry a pen.
You never know when you’re going to think of something worth keeping.
